Mils Trills at the South Street Seaport. The South Street Seaport is putting together some great kids entertainment for the Summer. FiDi Families and friends are invited to start your day with an interactive musical adventure this Summer with Mils Trils. Join Amelia Robinson (aka Mil’s Trills) and friends who will be playing original whimsical songs for the whole family to enjoy! Classes will be offered on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, which will make it easy for families with varying nap schedules. Spend the day at the new shops that have opened up along Front Street and have fun at the South Street Seaport.

Rio 2 at the South Street Seaport! Join your neighbors for an afternoon of fun with the Rio 2 Summer Party Tour. Blu and friends are on a cross-country tour as they celebrate the release of Rio 2 on DVD and Blu-Ray. Lower Manhattan is getting in on the fun and all families are invited! Activities include live soccer matches, samba performances, soccer drill stations, carnival mask making and a whole lot more.

Lavender Blues Music Class for Tots. Music and movement classes are great for little one’s as they learn to interact and socialize with other children their age. The folks from Lavender Blues are hosting drop-in music classes for babies and toddlers in Lower Manhattan at The Learning Experience. Bring your little one for a 40 minute music class with instruments and more. These classes are very popular so don’t delay! Drop in and meet other families from the neighborhood and take advantage of this great class.

Open Art at Washington Market Park. Join Church Street School teachers for a FREE art project at the picnic tables in Washington Market Park. The staff has been offering these sessions on Saturday’s in June and it has been a big hit with kids of all ages. Take the kids outdoors for a morning of messiness and fun. In case of bad weather join us at Church Street School, 74 Warren St.We look forward to seeing you there!

Summer in the Square. One of FiDi Families favorite spots is Union Square. So, we would be remiss to not share a fun summer event at good ‘ole Union Square. “Summer in the Square” is a free, weekly entertainment series presented by the Union Square Partnership. Join us as we hop on the subway and head uptown, just a couple of stops away. The summer series always has a wide variety of activities including live music, fitness classes and children’s programming.
StoryTime comes alive with puppets, songs, and yoga poses. Karma Kids invites little yogis to join them as they build literacy skills and healthy bodies in this action-packed class.

Night at the Museums. As part of the River to River Festival, 13 Lower Manhattan museums and cultural institutions will offer free programming for everyone to enjoy. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend the evening hours strolling with your children and introducing them to local institutions that help make NYC unique. Special programming and extended hours will be offered by the following institutions:
9/11 Memorial Museum (reserve tickets online), the African Burial Ground National Monument, the Anne Frank Center USA, the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, the 9/11 Tribute Center, the National Museum of the American Indian – New York, the National Archives at New York City, Federal Hall National Memorial, the Museum of American Finance, Fraunces Tavern Museum, the Skyscraper Museum, South Street Seaport Museum, and Wall Street Walks.
