We hope to see all of our FiDi Families at this special charity event even if it is out of the hood! During this event kids will have fun running around playing the game of gaga and all money will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of NYC.
What is gaga? Gaga is a fast paced, high energy sport played in an octagonal pit. The more players the better! Somewhat like dodgeball, the game is played with a soft foam ball, and combines the skills of dodging, striking, running, and jumping, while trying to hit opponents with a ball below the knees. Players need to keep moving to avoid getting hit by the ball. Fun and easy, everyone gets a serious workout.

Toddler Storytime at the New Amsterdam Library. The New Amsterdam Library has been hosting children’s programming for years and it’s a great way to introduce your children to the public library system. Kids can enjoy interactive stories, action songs, fingerplays, and spend time with other toddlers from the neighborhood. Story time is a great way to encourage listening skills, vocabulary and imagination. No reservation is required though space is limited and the library has easy stroller access. Sign up for a free children’s library card, while you are there. Children from infant to 11 years old can have their own cards; applications must be signed and completed by a parent or guardian.

We are excited to announce our first self defense workshop in the Financial District, open to anyone that wants to learn some new skills, strategies and methods to stay safe. Led by Ishmael Alvarado, a 5th Degree Blackbelt, fitness instructor and former Marine, this workshop is going to be fun, informative and useful. The workshop is a result of an alarming number of assaults and robberies that have been taking place throughout Lower Manhattan and affects all ages groups, regardless of gender and time of day. We want to offer some simple and easy tips on the best ways to protect yourself from harm.
The workshop will include a QA, refreshments, a raffle of a gift bag filled with gifts and a free pass to a fitness class with Chaise Fitness. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.
Spots are limited and will go fast so don’t delay and bring your friends and meet your other FiDi neighbors.
