Kick Off Battery Dance Festival Week! Join Battery Dance Company for a full week of dance as part of the Battery Dance Festival. Come down to Robert Wagner Park to enjoy dozens of incredible dancers fill the stage every night this week! Dancers will preform outside on the lawn! This is a perfect nightly event for families with people of all ages and interests! All performances are free to the public!
The festival with start of with the 8th edition of the Erasing Borders Festival of Indian Dance, curated by the Indo-American Arts Council (IAAC). This portion features artists from around the world practicing Indian dance.
Battery Dance Company was founding right here in the Financial District in 1976 by Jonathan Hollander! The companies first performances were done in parks, plazas and piers downtown. Five years later, the company launched the Downtown Dance Festival, the city’s longest-running free public dance festival. This year we celebrate their 40th anniversary and changing the name of the festival to the Battery Dance Festival!
