Just Water is inviting families to join them downtown for a day of fun! Kids of all ages will get to explore the importance of water and climate change through science shows, music and storytelling at Trinity Institute’s Just Water Family Day. The day-long event features two science demonstrations from Philadelphia’s renowned Franklin Institute, a presentation by Salva Dut, a “Lost Boy of Sudan” who founded Water for South Sudan, Inc. and music from New York City’s renowned Symphony Space Global Arts program. Story Pirates at Pier 25 (FREE). If you haven’t had a chance to experience the fun of the Story Pirates, then plan on joining them at Pier 25 and join them as they take your children on a journey so wild it could only come from the imaginations of kids! Story Pirates’ teaching artists guide the action, seeking inspiration and ideas for their interactive show from the children in the audience. The Story Pirates play colorful characters who sing, dance and improv their way through never-before (and never-again!) seen adventures. Restrooms are available at the comfort station!
Robert Lewis at The National Museum of the American Indian! The National Museum of the American Indian in New York is currently hosting Robert Lewis, famed Cherokee storyteller and performer. There will be three performances each day!
Robert masterfully crafts the cultural tales of the Cherokee people while adding his distinct humor and personal experiences. Children of all ages were delighted by his participatory methods of storytelling.
This experience will delight all ages as Cherokee storyteller Robert Lewis shares stories from his culture. Mr. Lewis reveals his culture through personal knowledge and family stories, language, history, and more.
