Front Row/Cinema – The Goonies. The South Street Seaport’s Front Row/Cinema is in full swing for their outdoor movie series!. It’s a great way to spend some quality time with the kids, enjoy great food and drinks from the local vendors and meet other FiDi Families. There are a ton of food trucks to order snacks from and an outdoor bar for some adult beverages. So, grab a blanket and head out early to grab a seat at the Seaport for a screening of “The Goonies“. Introduce the kids to this 1985 classic film, starring Josh Brolin and Sean Astin.

Hudson River Art Outpost. The Children’s Museum of the Arts has partnered with the Hudson River Park Trust to provide free hands-on arts programming throughout the summer. CMA will bring a wide variety of art-making and art-appreciation activities to Pier 25 from July through August, providing a range of programming options for kids of all ages. Each week CMA’s activities will include one individual mixed media project and one larger-scale collaborative project, inspired by the unique waterfront environment.

Sunset Jams on the Hudson. Join a family friendly drumming circle led by master drummers. The evening is fun and relaxed and a great way to introduce kids of all ages to unique musical sounds. The master drummers will lead participants in a variety of musical beats, influenced by the sounds of African, Latino and Caribbean rhythms. Instruments provided or bring your own if you have them!

Toddler Music with Irka Mateo (new times and updates). Children’s programming throughout lower Manhattan has enjoyed an upswing in the last several months. And, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian is no exception. They have introduced children’s films, arts and crafts and most recently, added renowned Taino musician Irka Mateo to their weekly lineup. Drop in with your toddlers and learn about Taino culture through stories, song, movement, and hands-on activities.
The museum is a wonderful place to explore, stroll with or without a stroller and introduce little one’s to the culture of the American Indian. Admission to all Smithsonian Museums is free. Take advantage of this beautiful indoor destination in lower Manhattan and support the museum with a visit!

Teen Drumming Circle. Calling all tweens/teens…Join Master Drummer Maguette Camara from Senegal at this weekly activity geared towards the big kids. It’s a great way to enjoy the great outdoors and it’s free…drums provided.
