* On a personal note, we are sad to report that the Scholastic Store in SoHo will be closing its doors on January 11th. As a parent that was always looking for a fun way to spend the time with my kids, when they were infants and as budding readers, the Scholastic Store was a go-to destination for us. We will miss the great staff, the movie screenings and photo ops with the many characters that my kids have come to love, such as the Power Rangers, Chima and of course, Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Miniature Trains for Kids of All Ages in Battery Park’s North Cove. Make your way to the North Cove and bring the kids to experience the wonder of miniature trains in Lower Manhattan. There will be seven trains running with familiar scenes such as a bustling city and harbor scene with a racing fleet of J/24 sailboats. It is a great activity for families and children of all ages to enjoy and to celebrate the spirit of the season. The Holiday Train Garden is constructed by the Manhattan Sailing Club in collaboration with Project City Kids, which organizes educational and recreational opportunities for kids who grow up in the City.
