ON LOVE: The Art of Lines, Shapes & Symbols at Brookfield Place

April 17, 2018 by Teresa Wang

Four extraordinary artists will create large-scale calligraphic paintings on these windows around the poetic theme of love. The artists from Iran, Japan, India, and the United States will use words, letters, shapes and symbols from their respective languages and alphabets to explore the linguistic and artistic connections to calligraphy. After one artist finishes, the next artist will begin. At the end of the second week, the windows will be transformed into works of art, and will display the beauty of love through words, letters, art, and symbols.

Grace-ful Ice In Midtown

December 12, 2015 by Deirdre McAndrew

Grace-ful Ice In Midtown

Grace-ful Ice In Midtown. Head north on the subway, and enjoy some wintery art as a frozen t-rex, pterosaur, and other dinosaurs take over Midtown at Grace Plaza. We know this event isn’t downtown, but it was too good not to share!

Arts Brookfield presents the live ice carvings created by Okamoto Studio. They will use chainsaws, chisels, and blowtorches to transform blocks of ice into towering dinosaurs and a next of dino eggs. This exhibit is free and open to the public.

Grace-ful Ice: Dinosaurs is an annual exhibition presented by Arts Brookfield. Other NYC holiday events include Luminaries, The Nutcracker by New York Theatre Ballet, and a newly designed Santa’s Winter Wonderland.

Okamoto Studios was founded in 2003 by a father and son from Alaska. They are recognized for their fresh and modern ice art. Their work has been featured in The Huffington Post, Time Out New York, The Wall Street Journal, and on The Martha Stewart Show and Iron Chef.  This is their fifth holiday season with Arts Brookfield at Grace Plaza.

Date: Monday, December 14th and Tuesday, December 15th [Read more…] about Grace-ful Ice In Midtown

One of our favorite traditions is displaying our h One of our favorite traditions is displaying our holiday cards on our wall. It’s been so fun to see pictures of our friends with their kids, their 4-legged pets or a beautiful card with no pictures and a note. The hard part is deciding when to take them down. In an effort to stay connected and to keep the conversation going with the kids, I think this year we will keep them up for a while longer. Connectivity is our theme for 2021 and grateful to see friends and family on our holiday wall this year. Any traditions we should know about for the new year? Please share!
