Have you ever been interested in volunteering but didn’t know the first steps to take? Join LMHQ and the Downtown Alliance on Wednesday, November 18 via Zoom, and participate in a special volunteer opportunity showcase. Participants will hear from five different city-based nonprofits that will dig into their unique missions, their progress, and what you can do to get involved. Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to attend a breakout session with the organization that most interests you. This is a great chance to educate yourself on some great organizations.

Léman Manhattan is excited to present the 2020 Parenting Speaker Series that brings internationally renowned experts in child development to speak to the local community. The first workshop will focus on the mental wellbeing of children and teens. The expert panel will address mental health and offer guidance to parents in all areas of wellbeing, bullying, self-expression, and advocacy. This event is adults only.

FiDi Families and all Lower Manhattan residents are invited to join the Waterfront Alliance on Brooklyn Bridge Beach as we approach the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy. Measure current tide levels, use a sea-level stick to envision future high water, and experiment with protecting shorelines in our erosion tray. Walk at the water’s edge on this shoreline that flooded seven years ago on October 29, and learn what community members can do to advocate for coastal resilience today.
FiDi Families Insiders: Rain or shine. Cancellation only in cases of severe weather. By order of New York City, swimming is prohibited and closed-toed shoes must be worn on the beach at all times.

Join the NYPD and city officials at the Seaport District, at Pier 17, on National Night Out Against Crime.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships to help make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. It seeks to strengthen the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement, fostering a true sense of community.
Enjoy a fun night out with family-friendly activities. Plus, meet local leaders and personnel from your local precinct and interact with neighbors, community members, and local businesses with the common goal of partnership and safety.
There will be games and activities for kids and lots of information on ways to work with the NYPD to keep your neighborhood safe. And, be sure to stop by the FiDi Families tent to say hello!
