Selecting the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you’ll make as a parent.

Located in the heart of FiDi at 41 Broad Street, Léman Manhattan Preparatory School provides the ideal first school experience for children starting at age 16 months.  For more than a decade, Léman has been a top choice school for downtown families. 75% of Léman students live in FiDi, Battery Park City, and Tribeca.

As an International Baccalaureate World School, Léman is a neighborhood learning community with a global perspective.  The play-based program at our newly renovated Center For Early Childhood Education sets the foundation for children’s academic, social, and emotional success.

Limited placements remain for 2018-19 for 2 years old through Kindergarten. Please contact admissions@lemanmanhattan.org to inquire or join the Wait List for the 16 -24 month-old Léman Explorers program.

If you are interested in admission for 2019-20, we invite you to join us for a Spring Tour. Registrations required.

When Design Thinking Meets NORY Summer Camp

April 9, 2018 by Denise Courter

nory.co/summer
PARTNER

At NORY Summer Camp, we will introduce and infuse the design thinking process. The design thinking process empowers children to think like problem solvers, helping prepare students for real-world challenges. Our project-based program helps children nurture an improvement in higher-order thinking skills, such as critical thinking and creativity, in an open and encouraging environment.

Throughout the summer, children will be presented with a series of problems, brainstorm, and ideate on their ideas, and explore fundamental prototyping concepts. We will guide children throughout the process, while at the same time allowing them the freedom to work collaboratively and the encouragement to share their ideas.

At the end of each week, children will take an idea from concept to execution and learn that there are multiple ways to approach the same problem. Children especially work to develop the skills of empathy, problem-solving, presentation, and prototype designing. Continuous work and exposure to Design Thinking allow for the refinement of these critical soft skills.

In an ever-changing and fast-paced world where we become more globally connected each day, it will be a necessity for the coming generation to be proficient in these generative, collaborative, and empathic skills.

Design Thinking, Woodworking, Coding, AI, Robotics, Chemistry & Physics Experiments, Group Engineering Challenges, Creative Building, and more!

June 25 – August 31
Half-day, early drop off & extended day available
Organic daily lunch included
