Winter Solstice 2020: 1st Annual Lantern Festival + Labyrinth of Light

December 16, 2020 by Denise Courter

Winter Solstice 2020: 1st Annual Lantern Festival + Labyrinth of Light

Save the date for an inspiring community event, presented by the Secret Lantern Society NYC – they are bringing the NYC community together to collectively celebrate the amount of light we have available to us, with its first annual Winter Solstice Lantern Festival and Labyrinth of Light, at Domino Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their lanterns to the festival to lighten up the night. The Labyrinth, an ancient concept used for meditation and ritual across the world, will be lined with candles in the center of Domino Park and can accommodate 10-20 groups at a time. Timed tickets will also ensure safe social distancing is in place.

The Winter Solstice Lantern Festival will begin at sundown or approximately 5:00 p.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m. It will feature musical accompaniment by Jarrod from @brooklyn_healing_arts and hot chocolate and cider provided by Tacocina. The festival will bring the NYC community much-needed light and celebrate its return, sooner than later.

Date: Monday, December 21st

Time: 5 pm – 8 pm (approximate time)

Life is funny. A year ago I was celebrating 20 yea Life is funny. A year ago I was celebrating 20 years of calling NYC home. A year later, our family is on a crazy career adventure in Miami, with a lot of unknowns.

But, we do know that we only get one life to live and jumping in feet first is the only way to live life to the fullest, at least in our minds 😂.

We are already in love with the Miami weather, the happy people, the gorgeous beaches 🏝 and the day tripping way of life. We arrived in FL w a suitcase each and a mask 😷. Happy that we are surrounded by mask-wearers. Wasn’t sure what to expect. But, we will be back in NYC this summer. Lots of decisions to make between now and then. But also lots of fun and exploring over the next few months.

The silver lining of the Covid world we live in is remote learning allows us to travel and say yes to new beginnings. Stay tuned for updates on the next chapter for our website, too.
