July 1, 2015 by Deirdre McAndrew

Great American Independence Day Parade

Great American Independence Day Parade! Recognize July 3rd as a national holiday at the South Street Seaport! Help start a new tradition in Lower Manhattan! This year, we will be honoring the visit of French Frigate Hermione & Her Crew & French Role in America’s Independence!

Come visit the historic Hermione on display at the South Street Seaport from July 1-3 and enjoy fun with the whole family.  Learn about Lafayette’s role in the American Revolution and the Hermione’s reconstruction. Re-enactors demonstrate shipbuilding crafts, interact with sailors and see costumed performances along with concerts and craft exhibitions.

The Lower Manhattan Historical Society has decided to sponsor this event for the first time in 39 years! This independence day parade will take place through the streets of Lower Manhattan, covering the most historically important streets of Lower Manhattan! March from Wall Street and along Broadway from Trinity Church to Bowling Green.

Come gain a greater appreciation of the very rich history of Lower Manhattan and its importance!  Thanks to The Lower Manhattan Historical Society and Howard Hughes for sponsoring and helping with such a patriotic and wonderful event!

Life is funny. A year ago I was celebrating 20 yea Life is funny. A year ago I was celebrating 20 years of calling NYC home. A year later, our family is on a crazy career adventure in Miami, with a lot of unknowns.

But, we do know that we only get one life to live and jumping in feet first is the only way to live life to the fullest, at least in our minds 😂.

We are already in love with the Miami weather, the happy people, the gorgeous beaches 🏝 and the day tripping way of life. We arrived in FL w a suitcase each and a mask 😷. Happy that we are surrounded by mask-wearers. Wasn’t sure what to expect. But, we will be back in NYC this summer. Lots of decisions to make between now and then. But also lots of fun and exploring over the next few months.

The silver lining of the Covid world we live in is remote learning allows us to travel and say yes to new beginnings. Stay tuned for updates on the next chapter for our website, too.
