Who’s ready to go back to school??? Last year at the first annual Tribeca Back to School Block Party, a few thousand of your neighbors celebrated with bounce houses, obstacle courses, music, dancing, ice cream, balloons, snacks, drinks, carnival games, and crazy photos! We’ll be back with all of that and a whole lot more.

Family Fun Day at Governors Island

Family Fun Day celebrates Governors Island’s green spaces and its playful attitude. This outdoor festival will feature live music, theatrical performances, arts and crafts, educational workshops, face painting, games, ice cream and other snacks, and a build-your-own playground.

As we get ready for National Ice Cream Day on July 15th, we wanted to share some of our favorite ice cream spots in Lower Manhattan and throughout New York City. 

 
Van Leeuwen
This artisan ice cream shop is known for their variety of unique flavors that you won’t find anywhere else! Earl Grey Tea, Vegan Pink Lemonade, Royal Wedding Cake and Black Sesame Ash ice cream? In addition, they offer a full menu of vegan ice creams, sundaes and milkshakes.

Sprinkles Land

Downtown’s newest dessert destination for Ice Cream lovers in Lower Manhattan, located near City Hall Park. This ice cream spot offers a unique menu of flavors of ice cream, including soft serve, such as Tiramisu Lover and Rainbow Castle, complete with unique toppings such as unicorn marshmallows, macaroons and a large menu of Milkshakes and Bubble Teas.

What started as an ice cream truck now has an outpost multiple outposts around the city. A family favorite, especially for families with children with food allergies. This is the ONLY homemade small batch, allergy friendly ice cream shop in the city! They offer nut-free, egg-free, and sesame-free ice cream with gluten-free and dairy free options as well as nut-free toppings. Their signature Blue Cotton Candy ice cream can put a smile on any kids face.  In addition to delicious, fun, ice cream flavors the store also is a kids boutique with ice cream themed trinkets, jewelry, clothing and more.

This handcrafted small batch ice cream shop calls themselves “experimental” and they’re not kidding- with flavors you would never dream of from seasonal specials such as : Ants on a Farm-Raisin,Celery,Gianduja Chocolate Chips and Pickles of the Caribbean-Rum, Coconut and Pickled Pineapple Jam to their “basics” which are definitely not anything of the sort! Smoked Dark Chocolate, Toasted Milk and Vietnamese Coffee to name a few.

Here’s a twist on a traditional ice cream shop- at Cool Mess, you get to create your own ice cream from scratch right at your table. The original Hong Kong waffle shop with a twist. Never heard of an ice cream waffle? Well head on over to eggloo and get familiar with it. Add toppings such as Fruity Pebbles, M & M’s and Oreo cookies and you have yourself a decadent treat.

Community Field Day at Rockefeller Park

School’s out of the summer! Celebrate at Community Field Day in Rockefeller Park. Learn to Double -Dutch, kick back with some ice cream and listen to beats by the one and only DJ D- Official. Engage in classic field day da games like potato-sack races, relays, and tug-of-war. Don’t miss out on face painting, lawn and water games and spinning the BPC wheel for prizes.

Not exactly in our neighborhood, but still below 14th street and still worth it: you’re invited to dig into our entire lineup of euphoric Non-Dairy flavors! We’ll be sampling every one of our Certified Vegan, almond milk-based flavors. Try all of the flavors for free!

Our first Non-Dairy flavors launched in 2016 and the family has grown to 10 indulgent offerings including classic Ben & Jerry’s flavors like Cherry Garcia and Non-Dairy exclusives. Swing on by and find your new favorite!

One of our favorite traditions is displaying our h One of our favorite traditions is displaying our holiday cards on our wall. It’s been so fun to see pictures of our friends with their kids, their 4-legged pets or a beautiful card with no pictures and a note. The hard part is deciding when to take them down. In an effort to stay connected and to keep the conversation going with the kids, I think this year we will keep them up for a while longer.
