Good night NYC. Reflecting on 9/11, discussing it with our kids and appreciating what this day means to us, to our friends and our family. Hard to wrap our heads around this 20 year anniversary. I’ll always appreciate that my now husband drove all night with his colleague from Denver, CO and straight to my apartment to make sure I was okay and navigate our next steps together, in a post 9/11 world.

Grateful for the 9/11 Memorial’s twin reflecting pools, which are each an acre in size and feature the largest man-made waterfalls in North America. Grateful for the Tribute in Light and the beauty it brings to the NYC skyline.

Today, 20 years ago, our world changed forever. It is hard to believe since it still feels like yesterday. On 9/11 and every day, I think of those who lost their lives and the heroes who risked and sacrificed their lives.

I’ll never forget seeing the people walking uptown with stunned looks on their faces, some covered in soot, missing a shoe or just crying. I remember going to the hospital to donate blood and getting in line with hundreds of people who had the same idea. My first day with Cantor Fitzgerald was supposed to be that day, though I wouldn’t have been at the WTC. My first day was 9/18 and I was honored to work with the Cantor Relief Fund and Victims Compensation Fund, and the 658 Cantor families, during my 8 years with CF.

Sending love to my friends who were able to evacuate, who lived downtown and witnessed the tragedy and continue to share their stories. Every day is a gift.
