After growing her career as a brand developer, known for notable work with Russell Simmons and Kimora Lee Simmons, Sandra Velez decided to help build Fresh Kids because of her 4-year old son. He not only serves as her daily motivation, but helps her become more aware of the growing citywide food inequalities. She wanted to help create affordable and accessible snacks across the five boroughs. Ms. Velez grew up in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood- then a mash up of wealthy prepsters, cross-dressing style and kids setting urban trends. As a native New Yorker, Ms. Velez sees the importance of giving back to her community as she participates in various family outreach events encouraging families to live healthy, fun, and active lifestyles.

One of our favorite traditions is displaying our h One of our favorite traditions is displaying our holiday cards on our wall. It’s been so fun to see pictures of our friends with their kids, their 4-legged pets or a beautiful card with no pictures and a note. The hard part is deciding when to take them down. In an effort to stay connected and to keep the conversation going with the kids, I think this year we will keep them up for a while longer. Connectivity is our theme for 2021 and grateful to see friends and family on our holiday wall this year. Any traditions we should know about for the new year? Please share!
