We sure do love all the yummy restaurant recommendations, but Thanksgiving is also a time to reflect and give thanks, and what better way than volunteering during this holiday season. Here is a list of city-wide organizations that need your help this season! This is a great way to get kids involved.
God’s Love We Deliver will prepare and deliver meals to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses. Volunteers can help prepare and deliver meals at various locations around the City. This opportunity will take place on the morning of November 24. Kids are welcome to participate. Register here. All volunteers must be vaccinated and show proof.
On Sunday November 20, they are also hosting a fundraiser for the whole family in Central Park. The Race To Deliver is a four-mile adult run/walk in Central Park followed by a kids race for ages 2-11. There are a ton of other fun activities to take part in as well! Registration is available online.
On Monday, November 21 in Brooklyn, Operation Gobbler Giving is an opportunity for families to work in a food pantry. This event is planned by Reaching-Out Community Services, which serves more than 6,500 families in 16 zip codes around the City. With this program they deliver turkeys and all the trimmings to more than 700 families! You must register ahead. Click this link for more information. They also offer a Christmas program, so check the website for more info.

And important to note, Feeding NYC will be hosting a packing event on November 22 at Pier Sixty in Chelsea Piers. Be sure to mark this amazing event on your calendar for next year. Registration opens in early Fall.
No Kid Hungry is an easy way for you and your family to come together and give back to kids in need. All you need to do is host a Friendsgiving celebration and for every $100 you raise, you will feed a child up to $1,000 meals!
Citymeals on Wheels provides homebound New Yorkers with hot meals. Children if accompanied by an adult can take part in delivering. They also offer a holiday card making opportunity. See here for more details on how to volunteer.
