Thanksgiving Volunteer Opportunities in NYC

November 17, 2022 by Amy Sullivan

We sure do love all the yummy restaurant recommendations, but Thanksgiving is also a time to reflect and give thanks, and what better way than volunteering during this holiday season. Here is a list of city-wide organizations that need your help this season! This is a great way to get kids involved.

God’s Love We Deliver

God’s Love We Deliver will prepare and deliver meals to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses. Volunteers can help prepare and deliver meals at various locations around the City. This opportunity will take place on the morning of November 24. Kids are welcome to participate. Register here. All volunteers must be vaccinated and show proof.

Operation Gobbler Giving

On Monday, November 21 in Brooklyn, Operation Gobbler Giving is an opportunity for families to work in a food pantry. This event is planned by Reaching-Out Community Services, which serves more than 6,500 families in 16 zip codes around the City. With this program they deliver turkeys and all the trimmings to more than 700 families! You must register ahead. Click this link for more information. They also offer a Christmas program, so check the website for more info.

Feeding NYC

And important to note, Feeding NYC will be hosting a packing event on November 22 at Pier Sixty in Chelsea Piers. This organization provides over 80,000 New York families to host their own Thanksgiving meal. While registration to take part in person is closed, you can still make a donation here. Be sure to mark this amazing event on your calendar for next year. Registration opens in early Fall.
